The Premier League returns this week after the international break. It was interesting to see how the national sides are shaping up after the Euros but there is nothing like the domestic season. There are some massive matches this week and as ever we’ve gone through the various betting options available to put together three accumulators of increasing odds below.
Easy Winner – 13/8 (Sky Bet)
- Over 1.5 goals in Arsenal v Southampton (1/4) – Both Arsenal and Southampton will see this as a great chance to turn around their average starts to the season. Expect plenty of goalmouth action at the Emirates.
- Over 1.5 goals in West Ham v Watford (1/3) – West Ham have invested heavily in their goalscoring options but at the back they remain vulnerable. Watford will hope to pounce at the London Stadium in a match which could swing either way but will surely have goals.
- Chelsea to beat Swansea (3/5) – While Swansea have begun their league campaign poorly, Chelsea look much more like the side who won the title two years ago than last season’s no hopers. Antonio Conte’s side have been a touch fortunate at times but they are a frightening proposition and should record their fourth straight league win at the Liberty Stadium.
Medium Risk – 6/1 (BetVictor)
- Bournemouth to beat West Brom (11/10) – These are far from happy times at West Brom. It looks only a matter of time before Tony Pulis leaves the club after only bringing in a handful of players in the transfer window. Bournemouth, meanwhile, are looking to build on a solid first season in the Premier League. The Cherries should be able to take advantage of the low Baggies morale.
- Both teams to score in Stoke v Tottenham (5/6) – It’s hard to know what counts as a good season for these two. Do Stoke need European football? Should Spurs expect to challenge for the title again? As they find their feet in the new season they should be able to play out an entertaining match at the Bet365 Stadium.
- Under 2.5 goals in Sunderland v Everton (5/6) – It is fair to say that neither Sunderland nor Everton have really got up to full speed yet. Both teams will be fearing defeat at the Stadium of Light which could manifest itself as a low scoring affair, with David Moyes sure to try and frustrate his former club.
Long Shot – 106/1 (Bet365)
- 1-1 correct score in Manchester United v Manchester City (11/2) – You get the feeling that both Manchester clubs and their managers would settle for a point at this early stage of the season. That makes the 1-1 correct score look like a very plausible outcome.
- Liverpool to beat Leicester to nil (7/4) – Liverpool have had issues with their defence for a while now but Leicester are going to turn up to Anfield with the express aim of keeping a clean sheet. Liverpool will have most of the ball and if they break down the stubborn Leicester defence should be able to record a fairly comfortable win.
- Burnley to beat Hull and both teams to score (5/1) – This is a game which both teams will be desperate to win. At their best there is goals in these two but playing at Turf Moor tips the balance of favouritism towards Burnley.
