How great it is to have the Premier League back. After the summer break and a fairly disappointing European Championships, the top flight of English football wasted no time serving up a dose of very exciting football. There were shocks, controversial moments and a shed load of goals. Once again, we’re looking to find some winning bets from the action by putting together three accas of increasingly rewarding odds.
Easy Winner – evens (BetVictor)
- Over 1.5 goals in Manchester United v Southampton (3/10) – It’s the first Friday Night Football match this week and it could be a real ding dong battle as Southampton try to inflict defeat in Jose Mourinho’s first competitive game in charge at Old Trafford.
- Under 3.5 goals in West Brom v Everton (1/5) – West Brom secured an opening day 1-0 win thanks to their tried and tested defensive style of football and Tony Pulis will see no need to change things with the visit of Everton so we’re expecting another low scoring affair.
- Over 1.5 goals in West Ham v Bournemouth (1/4) – After a seven goal thriller between these two at Upton Park last season there should be plenty more goals scored when West Ham and Bournemouth meet at the London Stadium on Sunday.
Medium Risk – 7/1 (Sky Bet)
- Liverpool to beat Burnley (8/15) – Liverpool are looking to build on the early points that they accrued against Arsenal when they visit Turf Moor. Burnley will certainly put up a fight but Jurgen Klopp’s men are sure to be too strong.
- Leicester to beat Arsenal (9/5) – Leicester had a very poor start to their title defence against Hull but they are back to the underdogs status that they so relished last season and could use their counter attacking, direct style to take advantage of Arsenal’s porous defence.
- Swansea to beat Hull (4/5) – Many people feel that Swansea are going to have to work very hard to avoid relegation this season but they got off to a fantastic start with a 1-0 win over Burnley. They’ve got another big game against a team expected to be towards the bottom of the table when they play Hull on Saturday and should get the win at the Liberty Stadium.
Long Shot – 41/1 (Bet365)
- Raheem Sterling to score against Stoke (5/2) – Raheem Sterling has made a very good start this season under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola. The pacey forward will be a big threat against Stoke and can make the home fans quiet by scoring during Saturday’s early match.
- West Ham to beat Bournemouth and both teams to score (11/4) – West Ham were poor against Chelsea but still managed to score. They will be well tested by Bournemouth’s attacking players and while they are likely to concede, the Irons should win the first Premier League match in their new home.
- Sunderland and Middlesbrough to draw (11/5) – Sunderland and Middlesbrough have a big job on their hands to carry the flag for football in the North East. They’ve both got a very good chance of avoiding the drop and the two well matched teams could well play out a draw when they meet on Sunday.
