Domestic football returns this weekend as the Football League gets underway, with 72 clubs playing their first games of a long campaign.
Over at Wembley, the first silverware of the season will be won as Leicester City and Manchester United fight it out for the Community Shield and it promises to be an intriguing match. That clash is just one of our seven BTTS tips for the forthcoming weekend.
Friday 5th August 2016
- Fulham v Newcastle United (8/11 with Ladbrokes) – Fulham were a BTTS dream last season, scoring lots, but also conceding plenty as well. They should be this term as well with Ross McCormack still leading the line and their defence still looking leaky. A Newcastle side full of quality should be able to find the net on Friday.

- Huddersfield Town v Brentford (8/13 with Bet365) – Jürgen Klopp’s former assistant David Wagner will be looking ahead to his first full season in charge of the Terriers after splashing the cash over the summer. With odds of 8/13 on BTTS, expect both keepers to be busy in West Yorkshire.
- Rotherham United v Wolverhampton Wanderers (9/10 with BetVictor) – Walter Zenga guides his Wolves side a week after taking the helm at Molineux. His side travel to Rotherham who also have a new manager in former Everton defender Alan Stubbs. The new gaffers make this match something of an unknown quantity, but given their performances at the back end of last season, we think there will be goals.
- Derby County v Brighton and Hove Albion (10/11 with Coral) – Both of these sides were great going forwards lasts season and it should be an entertaining game between the two play-off semi-finalists. Hosts Derby and Brighton both have plenty of goals in them and we expect them to be at the top end of the table this season. Both teams to score looks great value here.
- Walsall v AFC Wimbledon (19/20 with Betfair) – After a few close shaves, Walsall will be looking to finally get promoted this season and they will back themselves to score against newly promoted Wimbledon. However, the Dons have momentum on their side and this looks the pick of the League 1 action and a nice BTTS wager.

- Queens Park Rangers v Leeds United (evens with Betfair) – Sunday’s televised game sees QPR and Leeds go head to head at Loftus Road. The Whites’ combination of exciting attacking talent and a porous back four should make this one a good game to sit down and watch and another both to score banker.
- Leicester City v Manchester United (10/11 with Bet365) – The showpiece event gets underway at 3pm and whilst it is often seen as another friendly match, both managers will be keen to get a win. Claudio Ranieri will be hoping his side can exploit United’s shaky looking back four whilst United should find the back of the net against a Leicester side who haven’t looked great in pre-season so far.
